North Hollywood High School Class of 1965, North Hollywood, CA
I have been involved in the North Hollywood High School reunion committees since the 10 year; the Reunion Committee, Inc has handled every one.
We just held our 60-year reunion! The others were held in hotel ballrooms, but this one was held in a casual setting at the Sagebrush Cantina. Unlike the others, where we dressed up a bit, this one was so comfortable! It turns out that we actually like each other after all of these years. On reflection, at the 10 year, classmates were exchanging business cards bragging about their jobs or careers, and if they were married with or without children. We were more mature at the 20th, sharing information about divorces, job changes, what the kids are doing; the 30th, the same. At the 40th, classmates shared their experiences with loss, parents, spouses, and children in some cases; at the 50th we all were so glad we could get together. Most of us talked about retirement, volunteer work, writing novels, etc. — how we use our free time. The 60 year was different in that we were just glad to still be able to attend.
None of this could have happened without the Reunion Committee, Inc. Shelli, Liz and Yael are amazing to work with. They submit the down-payments for the venues and musicians, prepare memory books, offer personalized sweatshirts, etc. They keep track of our classmates with the information given by other classmates. It’s indeed more difficult to reach our friends via email addresses, but we tried and were fairly successful. It’s usually through a friend who knows how to reach ‘John Doe’ — The Reunion Committee updates whatever we give them. They keep a detailed list of our deceased peers, which is daunting to see, but what a fabulous resource.
It has been a pleasure to work with the Reunion Committee, Inc.
